Day 21
Whitby - Kingswood (Pettycur Bay)
While at Whitby we had decided that due to the time it was taking us to travel we would not be able to see everything that we had planned. We had planned to go to John o' Groats but reality set in after driving up from London and we realised that if you wanted to drive on country roads you had to allow significantly longer travel times for shorter distances.
Whitby Village from the Abbey carpark, the young ones didn't want to walk the 2 1/2 miles from Hawsker to the Abbey last night.
The navigator, Louisa took up the challenge of telling me where to go !!! Matt and I were out gunned on this trip 4 to 2 but I was the only one that had a licence to drive the motor home.
This is another reason why the trip was taking a little longer.
Crossing the River Tweed
The Town Ramparts in Berwick-upon-Tweed, lucky I didn't turn down this street when I was looking for a carpark.
Scotland
Looking out over the North Sea.
Edinburgh, we drove around here a few times trying to get out.
Edinburgh Castle, saw this a few times on our laps of Edinburgh in peak hour, do you think we could find the sign that said get out of Edinburgh free card. Eventually we did after about 4 laps, but it was a good experience.
Another view of Edinburgh.
Forth Road Bridge
Looking out over the Firth of Forth near Burntisland. Near here at Kingswood while I was out walking I came across a monument to Alenaander III the last true Celtic King, who accidentaly died at the age of 19 in 1286.
